Does it hurt?

Ho-Hsien-KuThis has to be the number one question that patients ask! The needles used for acupuncture are extremely fine, nothing at all like those used for injections. In skilled hands, you won’t really be aware of the needles being used and all you feel is a sensation of tingling or a slight ache.

What is Acupuncture used for?

We use Acupuncture for many of the problems for which you might see your GP. This is because, in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, when a person is unwell, in any way, it is considered to be as a result of an imbalance in the body’s energy flow - Acupuncture treatment seeks to redress this. If you are unsure whether or not it would be helpful for you, please ask me. I am always very happy to speak to you and give you an honest and informed opinion. (Please see the Free Initial Consultation section). You can also find more information on the British Acupuncture Council website.

How many treatments will I need?

This will depend on your particular problem , how long you have had symptoms, your general state of health etc. Normally treatment is weekly for a few sessions and then intervals between treatments become longer, until we are meeting only occasionally, or treatment is no longer necessary.

Do I need to tell my doctor?

No, not unless you want to - however there may be circumstances when I would advise you to consult your doctor, if you had not already done so.

How much does it cost?

£43 per session (1 hour)
The first consultation only is £65 (1½ hours)
